Teen Librarian

Lynden Library

The Whatcom County Library System seeks an energetic, innovative, and dynamic Teen Librarian to help today’s teenagers navigate the information world.  Connect them to information they need, their way.  Show them how to feel safe, respected, challenged, and empowered.  Provide them with opportunities to develop 21st century skills.  Demonstrate knowledge of the unique needs of adolescents.  We are looking for a self-motivated, problem solving, creative individual who can facilitate a team, establish community relationships, organize and develop planning, and connect with teens and their adults. Requires Master’s Degree and three or more years of relevant experience; Master in Library Science and Librarian certification preferred. Experience working with teens, and passion for young adult literature required. Full-time position. Applications are available at our Administrative Services offices and WCLS library locations, or you may download or complete an Employment Application form online*. The Employment History form is available if you need more space than the application provides.

* The Employment Application form is designed to be completed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. You may save the data you enter into the Employment Application form for future reference.  The reader is free and can be downloaded from the Adobe Systems web site.  Please note that completing the Employment Application with Apple Preview is not recommended.


A completed and signed Whatcom County Library System Employment Application is required for each position applied for, and must be received via mail, e-mail, or delivery by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date unless otherwise indicated by the job posting.

Incomplete applications or applications not received by the posted deadline on the closing date may disqualify you. Resumes and letters of interest are optional, unless requested, and will not be accepted as a substitute for a completed application.


Applications will be screened and applicants who best match the needs of posted positions will be contacted if they are selected for an interview. Employees working an average of 70 or more hours per calendar month are eligible for the Public Employees Retirement System plan.
