Friends of the Library

Do you believe in libraries? Join a Friends of the Library group.

There are many ways you can support your local library! Friends of the Library groups provide vital volunteer and financial support to Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) branch libraries.

Friends advocate for library services and raise funds for library projects that the WCLS budget doesn’t cover (like special furnishings and programs). Friends groups have been critical to improving library facilities. Deming and Island libraries are owned and maintained by their Friends of the Library groups.

Some Friends groups operate bookstores within the library or host book sales to support library needs. Others host community events that raise awareness of library services. Joining a Friends group is a great way to support local libraries and to build connections in your community. Ask library staff or visit the links below to learn how you can get involved.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Each library has a Friends of the Library group, and Friends groups are always looking for new members! Contact your local library manager to learn about meeting times and your local Friends group.

All WCLS Friends groups are registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits and welcome your contributions.
