WCLS partners with Law Advocates to offer free legal help for county residents

The Whatcom County Library System is partnering with Law Advocates to connect Whatcom County residents with free legal help regarding civil law questions. Residents may schedule virtual consultations with lawyers from their homes or at select county library buildings. Virtual appointments are currently available at Deming, Ferndale, Lynden and South Whatcom libraries 1-4 p.m. on alternate Saturdays. To schedule an appointment with a lawyer, contact Melinda Jackson, MelindaJ@lawadvocates.org or (360) 671-6079, extension 16.

For the past 27 years, Law Advocates has offered the free, drop-in legal advice clinics with volunteer lawyers at the Bellingham Public Library and Whatcom Community College. The in-person clinics have been cancelled due to public health guidance related to COVID-19. These new virtual consultations coordinated with WCLS bridge that gap and expand the service to county residents.
