Volunteers needed to serve on Birch Bay Library Capital Facility Area committees

To prepare a Birch Bay Library Capital Facility Area (LCFA) ballot measure for the November 2021 election, Whatcom County Library System seeks volunteers to be appointed to two committees as required by law.  If approved, the LCFA will support the construction of a library in Birch Bay.

One committee, to be known as the “For” committee, will prepare a statement for the voters pamphlet advocating voters’ approval of the measure.  The other committee, to be known as the “Against” committee, will prepare a statement advocating voters’ rejection of the measure.  If you are interested in serving on the “For” or “Against” committee, please contact Ruth Nail at ruth.nail@wcls.org or (360) 305-3641 by May 14, 2021.  A maximum of three members are permitted for each committee.

If approved, property taxes will increase by approximately $.13 per $1,000 assessed value for residents within the boundaries of the LCFA. Learn more about the project at wcls.org/birch-bay.
