Kiss Number 8 by Colleen A. F. Venable
Sevi’s Pick: Mads is set for high school. She goes to church, Catholic school, and minor league baseball games. She goofs off with her best friend Cat, and has not yet been kissed by Adam (thank goodness). Things are going well…until everything goes wrong. Her dad is harboring a secret that could tear the family apart. And the reason she doesn’t want to kiss Adam is because she wants to kiss Cat instead. Mads neat collected life is an especially hot yogurt of a mess—and especially heartbreaking. And only a bunch of awkward, uncomfortable, tooth clashing, friendship ending kisses is going to solve that. The art in this graphic novel is outstanding. The story is especially touching.
