Whatcom County Library System staff are hosting the second of two conversations with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community and interested library patrons, 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Lynden Library, 216 4th Street.
This relaxed social gathering will focus on brainstorming future library programs to better serve people in the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. The event is open to all ages, with crafts and games for children. Snacks and ASL interpretation will be provided. For more information, please email accessibility@wcls.org. WCLS was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. WCLS staff are using the grant to connect with the local Deaf and hard-of-hearing community and to improve accessibility.
