|Online Tutors and Testing & Education Center Now Available|
Beginning this year, you have access to two great new online resources to support lifelong learning from your library!
Seven days a week from 1-10 pm, HelpNow tutors are available online at the library or on your home computer. Certified tutors are ready to help with real-time tutoring in many subjects -- English, math, science, Spanish, and more. In addition to studying the Spanish language, tutoring in Spanish is also available in all subjects, making this a great resource for Spanish speakers needing help with material taught in English. Your HelpNow tutor may be a professor, a graduate school student, or a professional tutor. Papers can even be uploaded to the service for expert writing advice. The materials used for K-12 tutoring are Washington State curriculum-aligned, and tutoring sessions can last as long as the student needs help – there is no time limit!
You can also get help with your test preparation with Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC), a one-stop shop with eBooks, practice tests, and information for developing career plans and boosting job skills. TERC includes full-length, timed practice exams for the ACT, SAT and PSAT, and more, plus diagnostic pre-tests. High school students and their parents preparing for college can search for colleges and universities, financial aid programs and scholarship information. Job seekers can use the TERC Virtual Career Library to explore career choices, assess likes, abilities and strengths, research specific job salaries, and map a career path. Getting ready to test for your cosmetology license or the firefighter’s exam? TERC’s got you covered! You can even use the Computer Basics courses to brush up on Windows, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
All you need is your library card to access both great new resources from home. Together, HelpNow and TERC will help you meet your lifelong learning goals.
