Is it fake news? Ask the library!

Facebook, Twitter, Instragram and other social media feeds help us stay connected to family and friends, but, when used as a source of news, can be questionable since click-bait links and other revenue-driven strategies are behind many of the “news” stories that can show. Here are three library-approved resources for figuring out whether you can trust a particular story in your feed.

1. Ask us! The trained information professionals at WCLS will find out what you need to know (and more!). You can call or stop by any location, email us, or use our handy chat service 24/7.

2. Use the tools described in this excellent blog post by the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library to assess a news story and decide how credible it is.

3. Dig deeper with these books on how information technology is changing the way we live, work, and even think.
