Loan Periods - How Long can you keep your book, DVD, CD, etc?

Always check your receipt, call your library or check your account online to determine when an item is due. The due dates for any item can vary depending on the situation. (Is it a High Demand item, was it loaned from a different library system?)

Here are some general guidelines:

Items owned by the Bellingham Public Library - All items owned by the Bellingham Public Library are subject to Bellingham's loan periods and fines, even if they are picked up at a WCLS library.

Books, CDs, Audiobooks, most library items - Most books and library items are due in 3 weeks. After a 7 day grace period you will start accumulating overdue fines. These items can be renewed for another 3 weeks through the online catalog or by calling or visiting your library.

High Demand Books - Some books that are extremely popular will be due in 2 weeks plus the 7 day grace period. When you check out these books the due date on your receipt will reflect the 2 weeks and you will receive a yellow bookmark that explains this. These books can not be renewed.

DVDs & Videos - Most DVDs and Videos are due in 2 weeks. After a 2 day grace period you will start accumulating overdue fines.

High Demand DVDs & Videos - Some DVDs & Videos are extremely popular will be due in 1 week plus a 2 day grace period. When you check out these DVDs and Videos the due date on your receipt will reflect the 1 week and you will receive a yellow bookmark that explains this. These DVDs and Videos can not be renewed.

InterLibrary Loan Items (ILL) - InterLibrary Loan Items are generally due in 3 weeks, but shorter loan periods may apply due to restrictions. After a 2 day grace period you will start accumulating overdue fines. To inquire about renewal of ILL items contact Interlibrary Loan before the due date at 384-3150 ext. 222 Monday thru Friday 8 to 5.

Exceptions - There are some exceptions to the above loan periods, please refer to your receipt for final due dates. You can also check your account online or call your local branch with questions.
