As we look over the first half of 2012, the Whatcom County Library Foundation board of directors is thrilled with the outpouring of support – in time, talent and treasure – committed by community. With six more months left to go in the calendar year, the WCLF has already surpassed its fundraising goals and has increased its ability to fund programs throughout the library system.

An example of this expansion is the Raise a Reader program. We are now able to provide a packet to all babies born at St. Joseph Hospital and at the Childbirth Center. This increase in programming was made possible by a $5,000 gift from the Friends of the Bellingham Public Library and underwriting support from Village Books. The WCLF is honored to manage such a critical community program and is grateful for the generosity of organizations, businesses and individual donors who support our mission and libraries.
