Digital Bookmobile Comes to WCLS Print

The Digital Bookmobile visited the Lynden Public Library on its National Tour (www.digitalbookmobile.com) to showcase the free eBook download service available at all WCLS branch libraries.

At this free event on Thursday, May 3rd, readers of all ages were able to learn how to download eBooks from the library through interactive demonstrations and instructional videos.

Digital BookmobileThe Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. It is a high-tech marvel equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players such as Kindle® and NOOK™. Come on down and try one out, search the library’s digital book collection, ask a question, or just explore this fun world of dowloadables.

Lots of gadgets to try out

“Our downloadable eBook and audiobook collections have become very popular,” said WCLS Library Director Joan Airoldi. “In 2011, patrons downloaded more than 15,500 books, twice as many as in 2010.

The Digital Bookmobile contains a gadget gallery of portable devices and interactive learning stations giving visitors an opportunity to search the library’s digital book collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks and audiobooks for themselves.
