Just finished that new bestseller? Consider donating it to your library!Whatocom County Library System accepts gifts of books and other materials in excellent condition to add to our collection or sell at book sales to raise funds for the library.
Where will the book end up?Requests to place gift items in a particular library facility must be approved by the appropriate selector. Donated items will be available to all WCLS users in the same manner as all library materials. Requests for separate housing, restricted use, or other special considerations must be approved by the Library Director, who will consider space limitations and community needs, as well as Library System benefits. Unless otherwise agreed upon between the donor and the Library Director, the items may be replaced or disposed of according to the best judgment of the library’s staff.
ReceiptsThe library cannot assign a dollar value to gift materials for tax purposes. Library staff can provide a receipt for the number of items donated, or the number of boxes or bags of items. If a donor provides a specific list of items, the library will sign a statement acknowledging receipt.
