Magic Lantern Slide Show |

In an evening not to be missed, Laura Jacoby will present A Magic Lantern Slide Show: an evening of local history using original glass slides shown on an antique magic lantern slide projector at the Annual Meeting of the Friends of the North Fork Community Library. Laura was inspired to study local history by her grandfather, the late Galen Biery, a notable local historian. His original glass slides form the core of her presentation. Too large for a regular projector, the slides will be shown on a rare, magic lantern slide projector also known as a stereopticon.
Also presenting at the Friends Annual Meeting: Kerry Garrett of KGA Architects, Bellingham. The Friends of the Library have engaged Kerry Garrett’s services to help design the new library that will be located in Kendall. Kerry, who is familiar with the community as he helped design the Maple Fuels expansion in Maple Falls, is bringing together ideas from the community and the Whatcom County Library System to design a welcoming and energy efficient library building. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Friends Annual Meeting and Magic Lantern Slide Show will be held at the Kendall Elementary School (7547 Kendall Rd) on Thursday, Nov. 12th at 7 p.m. For more information call the Maple Falls Library at 599-2020.
