Annual Valuation of Property |

Whatcom County Assessor Keith Willnauer announced that his office’s plan to transition to an Annual Real Property Revaluation program has been approved by the Washington State Department of Revenue. Beginning in 2010 for property taxes due in 2011, one-sixth of the County will be inspected and all property will be statistically revalued annually.

Olympic Torch Schedule |

The Winter Games Olympic Flame was lit in Olympia, Greece on October 22, 2009 and began a relay journey across Canada on October 30. On Feb. 7, 2010 the runners will stop in Abbotsford, on Feb. 8 in Aldergrove and on Feb. 9 at the Peach Arch and Tsawwassen. For more information and details, check out the Olympic Torch Route

Historic Washington Newspapers Online |

More than 42,000 historic newspaper pages from 8 Washington newspapers were contributed by the Washington State Library to the Chronicling America web site, hosted by the Library of Congress. The site provides free and open access to over 1.7 million pages from 212 titles that were published between 1880 and 1922 in 15 states and the District of Columbia.

Flags at half-staff |

Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff for Pierce County Deputy Kent Mundell who died December 28 from wounds suffered in the December 21 shooting.
Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday, January 5, or first thing Wednesday morning.
Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition. |
